Simon & Caitlin—your local farmers!
First generation Americans and first generation farmers committed to building a more resilient food system through regenerative farming and making access to fresh local food more convenient.
Our Story
Three months after tying the knot, we seized a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to lease and operate Cedar Field Farm. This beautiful, previously organic-certified market garden style farm, tucked away among the trees just 30 minutes from home, has become a sanctuary and the perfect entry to build a farm business together.
Simon has always had a deep passion for growing food. After working for several controlled environment agriculture companies, he’s found true purpose in regenerative agriculture and getting his hands in the dirt. Outside of farming he is a conservation specialist with The Nature Conservancy.
Caitlin has always had a calling to feed people. As our first season started to take off she shifted away from her corporate career to apply her marketing and data & analytics expertise to growing the farm business. She finds it most rewarding seeing customers experience the taste of freshly harvested veggies for the first time!
Simmy the pug is living the dream as our official taste tester and quality control manager.
We’re beyond humbled to feed our community the best of what Michigan has to offer, and we hope you’ll join us!
Our practices
-
No compost, no crops! Healthy soil produces healthy plants and more nutrient-dense food. We follow regenerative practices:
No-till to retain soil structure
Crop diversity to minimize pest pressure
Cover cropping for carbon and nitrogen sequestration, organic material, and soil structure
No spray - we will NEVER spray harmful synthetic herbicides, insecticides, or fungicides
-
We cultivate ¾ of an acre using our hands and hand tools, no industrial equipment
-
We aim to feed the communities we live in and are part of, and reduce reliance on corporate food that prioritize profits over everything.
Supporting local agriculture has the power to change the world.
-
We do our best to minimize our environmental impact and protect the planet we call home. This comes in the form of:
Off-grid renewable solar power
Recycleable packaging where possible
Minimal single use plastics
